A very quick review of the Coleman 5469 series propane camp stove…
- The latch will be the first thing to break. It’s cheap
- The propane regulator/tube connection will be the second part to break
- It’s going to be a rattle trap that will drive you crazy on long drives (unless you pad it with a dishtowel)
- Inexpensive? ($59)
- Electric start - no matches
- Two 22,000 BTU burners
- Wind-block (playa worthy?)
- Two lame trademarked adjectives in the stove’s name (Perfectflow™ and Instastart™ )(What, Camp-a-rific™ was taken?)
- Body of stove is closed. Cleaning out playa dust will require disassembly (if you can even do that)
A few years ago I bought their Party Grill. It didn’t even make it onto the playa. It broke before I could fire it up for the first time. On the other hand, the Coleman tent heater was great when we lost power last winter. It allowed us to eat dinner without needing gloves.
Time will tell if this will be more like the grill or the heater.
