Jott is a free web service that will email a transcribed voice message to someone in your Jott contact list. You call the toll-free number, speak the name of the contact, then speak your message (up to 30 seconds).
As a test, I sent a Jott message to the address that allows me to post to this blog via email. That didn’t work. Jott sends HTML formatted email which caused the wp-mail helper program to get “confused” and discard it. What ended up being sent was interesting. This was emailed:
Jott To Blog Sparkzy
Beat up Martin. When ever I think about voice and writing recordation this sence from Simpson pops into my mine.
What I said: jott-20070409.mp3
(The Simpsons’ scene I’m referring to is below.)
Does this mean that Jott is useless? Not at all. I’m using it to capture quick to-do’s where accuracy isn’t important - having an easy way to remind myself of a note is the important part. And to be honest, I’m surprised that Jott does as well as it does. I have trouble understanding people on cell phones because they have crappy audio.
Jot is free at the moment. It will be interesting to see how they turn this handy service into a product that pays their bills.

Hey Mike! Just surfin the web to research jott a little and I ran across your blog. I saw you were trying to blog via jott and were having troubles. WELL…it IS possible. I’m not sure how this guy did it…but he did! Check this website out, http://res.realestateshows.com/jott/, this guy has been experimenting with jott and blogs and seems to be successful!
It’s awesome you are finding Jott a useful tool in life. Me as a musician, I use it to remember guitar riffs! I’m such a forgetful person and when I have a awesome idea for a song…I forget it when I get home!
Anywho, good to see jotters out there!
