On my “someday” list, I had this entry, “Upload photos to Flickr.com account.” I had created the account a year ago, but hadn’t used it.
My comet McNaught pictures inspired me to give it a try. It was easy. Real easy. I installed a helper program that I got from the flickr site, uploaded the photos, then played around with arranging them and creating sets.
As I upload more of my photos, I started looking at the tools and toys that are available.
At the top of this post, I have a profile widget from http://bighugelabs.com They have an entire site devoted to photo tools.
Below is a great flash slideshow tool from Diego Bauducco’s web site. Click on the currently displayed image to advance, or navigate to a photo with the strip of thumbnail images. The slideshow is displaying photos I took in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2005.
I think two of the great strengths of flickr are being able to identify your images with tags, and providing an easy way to license your photos for others to use. I’m in the process of making a video with Burning Man images licensed with the Creative Commons license. I’ll post it here when I’m finished with it.
